Despite the precipitation of a third-team call-up, Guangdong’s walls proved to be stronger than expected.Led by a dominant performance from ‘Dudu’ Lee Dong-ju, Guangdong easily defeated the DRX, who had two rookies in their starting lineup, in a shutout.
Guangdong defeated DRX 2-0 in the first round of the 2023 LOL Champions Korea (LCK) Summer on Monday afternoon at the LCK Arena in Jongno, Seoul. Lee “Dudu” Dong-ju was named the unanimous POG of Game 1 for his Xanthe, while Kim “Tae-yoon” Tae-yoon was named POG of Game 2 for his Node carry.
Without spring season starter “Fate” and “Duk-dam”, Guangdong overcame DRX’s strong play with “Dudu” Lee “Dudu” Dong-ju’s special top lane garrison. Lee “Dudu” Dong-ju didn’t stand out in the early laning phase, but after the mid laning phase, he became a terror for DRX’s champions with his monstrous super carries.
With DRX completing the Dragon’s Soul, ‘Dudu’ Xanthe took down Apellios with three cores and Yumi on his back, capping off a thrilling comeback in the long game of Game 1.
Unlike the close first game, game two was a one-sided affair for Guangdong. After rolling a snowball from the start, Guangdong took an early lead, opening up a 10,000 gold gap after 20 minutes.
With the Baron buff in place, Guangdong quickly took control of the game, wiping out the DRX main lane.
