On the 9th, the match between KT Rolster and Genji Esports was suspended around 11:47 of the second set of the ‘2023 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer’ Week 1 Day 3 Game 1 at Roll Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. KT Ranged dealer Kim “Aiming” Haram purchased a banned item, Static’s Dagger.
The referee stopped the game when he realized that Aiming had purchased the item, and only after a long time did the players re-enter the stadium and the game resumed. After the decision to resume the game, KT head coach Kang Dong-hoon visited the press room and said, “The sale of the item and further measures are double discipline.”
The LCK then released an official statement after the end of the second set. It said that it had communicated a ban on the use of Static’s dagger, the item in question, on May 30, just before the LCK Summer, and on May 2. They also said that it was the referee’s discretion to sell the item and resume the match after Aiming’s purchase of the item. They also said that Aiming’s purchase of the banned item will be punished based on the global penalty index, and although it cannot be considered intentional abuse by the player, it falls under the category of ‘bug abuse’ and the specific item application and level will be announced later.
Meanwhile, the two teams are currently playing a third set in a best-of-three situation, with Genji winning the second set.
