Major League Baseball’s Shohei Ohtani is done for the season with an elbow injury.
The Los Angeles Angels announced on July 17 (ET) that they were placing Ohtani on the 10-day disabled list (IL), meaning he will miss the remainder of the season and end his season early. Ohtani reportedly left the locker room after the game against Detroit on April 16.안전놀이터
Ohtani appeared in 23 games and 132 innings as a pitcher this season, posting a 10-5 record with a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts. As a hitter, he appeared in 135 games, batting .304 with 44 home runs, 95 RBIs, 20 doubles, a .412 slugging percentage, a .654 on-base percentage and a 1.066 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage).
However, his pitching duties were cut short last month when he was diagnosed with right elbow ligament damage. Later in the month, he was unable to play as a hitter due to right lateral soreness and was eventually lost for the season.
Ohtani is expected to undergo elbow surgery for next season. However, it has not yet been determined what type of surgery it will be.
The Angels currently have 14 games left in the regular season. With a wild-card berth unlikely, there’s no reason to push Ohtani too hard.
