Emiliano Grillo (ARG) won his second career title at the Charles Schwab Challenge ($8.7 million purse) on the United States Professional Golf (PGA) Tour.
Grillo carded six birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey in the final round of the tournament on Monday morning (Sept. 29) at the par-70 Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Grillo finished with an 8-under-par 272 total to tie Adam Shank (USA) for the title after a second overtime playoff. It was Griyo’s first victory in seven years and seven months since the Price.com Open in October 2015.
Grillo held a two-stroke lead going into the final round, but a double bogey on the par-4 18th hole allowed Sengye and Harry Hall (England) to tie for the lead. Shank parred the 18th to force overtime, while Hall bogeyed to remain in a tie for third with Scotty Schaeffler (USA).
Grillo and Schauck were unable to decide a winner in the first overtime on the 18th hole, but a second overtime on the 16th (par-3) would decide the winner, and Grillo was in luck. Grillo’s tee shot went wide, but hit the perimeter of the green and then sloped up the slope to land 1.4 meters from the hole. Shank’s tee shot landed in the rough, and Grillo sank his birdie putt to lift the trophy.
Ahn Byung-hoon, who had consecutive top-10 finishes in rounds one through three, dropped four strokes today with two birdies and six bogeys to finish at 1-under par 279 and tied for 21st. Kim Si-woo carded two birdies and three bogeys to finish tied for 29th with an even-par 280, while Lee Kyung-hoon was tied for 57th at 5-over par 285. 안전놀이터
