Carlos Alcaraz, 20, Spain, World No. 2, has reached the quarterfinals of the Men’s Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour’s Cinch Queens Club Championships.
The Spaniard defeated Grigor 꽁머니사이트 Dmitrov (32, Bulgaria) 2-0 (6-4 6-4) in the singles quarterfinals of the ATP Tour 500 Series Cinch Queens Club Championships in London, England, on Thursday.
Alcaraz, last year’s U.S. Open champion, fell 1-3 (3-6 7-5 1-6 1-6) to Novak Djokovic (36, Serbia, World No. 1) in the semifinals of the Roland Garros French Open, which concluded on Tuesday in Paris, France.
Playing in his first tournament since his French Open quarterfinal exit, he bounced back to reach the last four. Looking for his fifth title of the year, Alcaraz will face Sebastian Coda (22, USA, World No. 32) in the final.
Coda is the younger brother of sisters Jessica and Nelly Coda, who play on the Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour. He defeated last week’s German Boss Open winner Frances Tiafoe (25, USA, World No. 10) 2-0 (7-6<7-2> 6-3) in the round of 16.
Koda, who defeated Cameron Norrie (28, Great Britain, World No. 13) 2-0 (6-4 7-6<7-1>) in the quarterfinals, will face Alcaraz on his way to the final.
Alcaraz holds a narrow 2-1 head-to-head advantage over Coda.
Holger Lune (20, DEN, World No. 6) also defeated Lorenzo Musetti (21, ITA, World No. 16) 2-0 (6-4 7-5) in the quarterfinals.
Lune, who advances to the quarterfinals, will face Alex DeMino (24, Australia, World No. 18).
Earlier in the day, Danil Medvedev (27, Russia, World No. 3) fell in the quarterfinals of the ATP Tour 500 Series Terra Bortmann Halleopen in Halle, Germany, 0-2 (5-7 6-7<3-7>) to Roberto Bautista Agut (35, Spain, World No. 23).
Agut, who upset top-seeded Medvedev, will play Andrei Rublev (25, Russia, World No. 7) in the semifinals.
Aleksandr Bublik (26, Kazakhstan, World No. 48) 토토꽁포인트 joined the quarterfinals with a two-set victory over Yannick Siner (22, Italy, World No. 9). Bublik will face Alexander Tsverev (26, Germany, World No. 22) for a ticket to the final.
